Overview

Chapter leaders build a local PAWS FOR A CAUSE team from the ground up — recruiting volunteers, building relationships with nearby shelters and rescues, and running organized community service in their area.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and onboard a founding chapter team
  • Build relationships with local animal-welfare partners
  • Plan and run volunteer events, supply drives, and outreach
  • Represent PAWS FOR A CAUSE in your community
  • Coordinate with the executive board on goals and reporting

Requirements

  • High school or college student, or community leader
  • Comfortable organizing people and following through
  • Available for regular planning and chapter meetings
  • Aligned with PAWS FOR A CAUSE's youth-led mission and values

Leadership expectations

  • Set and execute state-level goals with the executive board
  • Support regional chapter leaders in your state
  • Maintain partner relationships and represent PAWS FOR A CAUSE
  • Lead by example with integrity, follow-through, and care

Time commitment

A few hours per week on average, with additional time around events. Term lengths and meeting cadence are confirmed during onboarding.

Internship Program

For high school and college students interested in gaining nonprofit experience.

Position descriptions

  • OperationsSupport day-to-day workflows, volunteer coordination, and event logistics across chapters.
  • OutreachBuild relationships with schools, community groups, and partner organizations to expand reach.
  • MarketingHelp craft messaging, campaign materials, and the public-facing voice of PAWS FOR A CAUSE.
  • PartnershipsResearch and nurture partnerships with shelters, rescues, and aligned organizations.
  • Social MediaPlan and produce content, manage the posting calendar, and grow our audience responsibly.
  • DevelopmentSupport fundraising, donor communication, and supply-drive campaigns.

Time commitment

Internships are remote and flexible — typically a few hours per week, with semester-length terms. Exact hours are confirmed at the start of the term.
