Volunteer with Paws For A Cause.

We welcome student volunteers who want to help support animal welfare in their community. Below is what to expect, who can take part, and how to apply.

What to expect

A few things to know before you sign up.

Who can volunteer

Student volunteers are welcome. Depending on the event and partner organization, volunteers under 18 may need parent or guardian permission. Younger students may be paired with age-appropriate roles such as supply sorting, design, or social media support.

What you might do

Help at a supply drive, support a partner shelter's volunteer day, sort donations, share adoption posts on social media, or help with outreach at schools and community groups. Each project is different.

Time commitment

There is no minimum commitment. Some volunteers help once at a single event; others come back regularly. We try to make it easy to participate as much or as little as you can.

How events are communicated

Once you're signed up, we'll email you when we have a project that fits your interests and availability. You can also follow @pawsforacausemi for updates.

Verifying volunteer hours

We can confirm volunteer hours for school requirements when our team or a partner organization is present. Please ask us when you sign up if you need verified hours so we can plan ahead.

Shelter and partner rules

When volunteering at a partner shelter or rescue, you'll follow their rules, age requirements, and any required orientation or waiver. Transportation to events is usually the volunteer's responsibility.

For parents and guardians: we collect basic contact information for volunteer coordination and may share it with a partner organization for event check-in. Please see our privacy policy, and contact us with any questions before your student volunteers.

FAQ

Common questions.

How old do I need to be?
It depends on the event and partner organization. Most volunteer roles are open to high school students. Some are open to middle school students with parent or guardian permission. Some partner shelters have age minimums for on-site volunteering; we'll let you know what fits.
Do I need experience?
No. We'll explain what to expect before each event, and partner shelters usually run their own orientation for on-site volunteers.
Can I volunteer remotely?
Some roles, like helping with social media, design, or school outreach, can be done remotely. Drives and shelter days are in person.
Do you confirm volunteer hours for school?
When our team or a partner organization is present, we can confirm hours for school requirements. Let us know in advance so we can plan.
Is transportation provided?
Transportation to events is usually the volunteer's responsibility. We try to share locations in advance so families can plan.
